Avance en Game Watch con capturas a su resolución real:

Gran parte de los escenarios están profusamente filtrados... Una pena. No era así en los juegos anteriores de esta casa.

Re: Iris no Atelier: Grand Fantasm (PS2).

Y GP, fiel a la saga desde que se la descubrí yo mismo, nos cuenta sus primeras impresiones en inglés:

First and foremost, this game really plays a lot differently than the previous two. Cheers for coming up with new ideas... but it's just not as good.

-As stated previously, the backgrounds are filtered. It's noticeable, but not as bad as what you'd see in the Tales games. However, in the Tales of vain, they do that stupid character scale/zoom thing not only after battles, but during. Really stupid, as you can only see the characters, and not the enemies. Bad change.

-There is no free-roaming map. You start in a city, which is the focal point of the game. In the city, there is a guild where you take on quests. Finish the quest, and you get quest points, items, money, etc. To complete most of the quests, you have to go to the "other worlds". There are (I believe) 8 of these other worlds. Every time you enter, there's a time limit. When the time's up, you will be ejected. Even fights take up time.

-No random battles. There are three colors of enemy icons in these maps. Blue (enemies are weaker than you), White (enemies on same level as you) and Red (enemies are stronger than you). There are larger ones, denoting much stronger enemies, and an even bigger one, denoting bosses. You cannot just fight anything to raise your level, as you'll run out of time. Jumping over and avoiding enemies is key.

-No "chemicals" this time. All mixing is done within the Atelier. Once you know how to mix something, you have to use those items again to make it. Of course, you can mix and match to make new items.

-Fight system is actually an improvement... or at least different, w/o being worse. Instead of the Grandia-style meter, there's a card meter. You have a much better idea of who will attack in what order, although you can manipulate it a bit with certain attacks. Basically, do an attack, your card goes to the back. Use a heal item, and your card goes back not as far, etc. Then there's the "burst system". When the burst gauge (raised by getting hits on enemies) maxes out, you enter burst mode. Your magic guage (which is taken straight from Eternal Mana 2) goes to 9, and your magic becomes stupid strong... like 5 or 6x as strong as normal attacks. Clearly, for boss fights, the idea is to get hits, go to burst mode, then unload.

-There are some re-used sprites, like w/ the other games, but not too many. There's quite a few new ones too.

While it is disappointing to see so many corners cut, I will enjoy it to the end I'm sure.

Anunciado para los EEUU:

Es, claramente, la entrega más floja, de todos modos. GP cambió un poco sus impresiones tras haberlo terminado.
