What's a young adventurer to do, when the city life gets too stifling? Head for the frontier, of course! Adventure! Excitement! Wide open spaces! Malevolent man-eating monsters!
Welcome to the great outdoors with It's New Frontier, a hybrid farm simulator-type game from Square Enix made for the I-Mode phone network. Players take on the role of one of five pioneers who are hoping to make a new life in a new land: the slightly arrogant Lior, the down-to-earth Peneloa, the optimistic Claus, the mysterious (and short) Chelusha, and the tough Barokk. Each of the five comes with their own special skill, ranging from increased carrying ability to the power to encourage plant growth.
This particular project's development was headed by Akitoshi Kawazu of SaGa fame. This is a guy who really knows how to create interesting worlds for characters to inhabit, though in the past his implementation has been a little hit or miss. An open-ended (apparently), exploration-oriented frontier experience is the sort of thing that sounds right up his alley. The music sounds good, too.

Basado en un antiguo cómic de la Dragon Magazine, Kadokawa acaba de anunciar 'Den-Yuu-Den', un RPG de la escuela de Wizardry -- parece. Es 2D y, por tanto, portátil. CLARO.

Huh, so Mihara has revealed a bunch more details in a recent blog post. Some pretty surprising stuff:
* will use the New Net City cab at AM show
* SD/HD compatible
* "kindness" as the theme; hardcore players will continue to experience hardcore, while "half-assed players" may say the game got dumbed down and declare the game dead. Mihara looking forward to hearing such things from halfasses.
* will use Sega Ringwide, but not necessarily published by Sega; too early to tell
* Theme will involve reincarnating life; the word "round" being one of the key words
* Rules will differ between SRS/ARS in some modes; In SRS-Master you aim for score while in ARS faster clear times
* Controls will feature some "kindness"; ARS will have an added "special" button, no details on what it does yet
* the new Konoha mode will be quite controversial; Jin8, who is helping with testing, is already hooked. Prepare to doubt your own eyes ... in the galgame elements thrown in
* Hints: Jin8 has no interest in galgames whatsoever; Kitakitsune alerts are very important; Has there ever been a galgame before with such lack of will to reveal?
* Sorry in advance to those who may say this isn't their image of TGM. But this is a game of skill.
* 3 modes; Master, Rounds, Konoha
* "Leaving behind 1/60"
* tuning has been hell because of this decision; spent the last 3 weeks thinking about it day and night
So... Like just about everything from Japan it seems TGM will be invaded by anime chicks? There seem to be legitimate new gameplay improvements though. I'm most intrigued by the "kindness" added to the controls, the extra button for ARS, and the supposed framerate increase. The latter is likely to not be up to 120 fps though, because I don't think arcade monitors can handle that. Anyone know what they can handle? I think it's something closer to 85 fps or so.
Also it's quite unexpected for SRS and ARS to be differentiated so much. Only ARS gets the new button, and SRS plays Master for score. That's pretty huge.

Haven't had a chance to look it over yet, though I've no doubt it's full of errors, inaccuracies, stupidities, and no doubt a great deal of plain simply bad writing.
Pues eso.
